Mirrors in Stone - a digital commission
Mirrors in Stone was a digital project commissioned by Meadow Arts in 2021, as part of their ‘RURALities’ programme. This programme saw 4 artists tackle rural themes using digital mediums, exploring different facets of the three counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. Mirrors in Stone reimagines the carvings found in Herefordshire’s Romanesque churches as playful GIF animations. The work prompts viewers to look again at the faded, eroded art of the region’s past, casting light on universal and enduring themes including paganism and Christianity, conflict and harmony, Nature and Man. You can explore the commission in full on the Meadow Arts online exhibition. The work was also shared at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery from 17 May to 27 June 2021. The GIFs are displayed below.
